Population (in ecology) 1. A group of individuals of the same species within a community. The nature of a population is determined by such factors as density, *sex ratio, birth and death rates, emigration, and immigration. 2. The total number of individuals of a given species or other class of organisms in a defined area, e.g. the population of rodents in Britain. 2004 - It has been reported that even after hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants / refugees / asylum seekers have poured into the United Kingdom, in the last year or two, it is getting worse. Up to 500,000 illegal immigrants now live in the UK, that have arrived here in the last five years. It is expected that they will cost the UK tax-payer 200 billion pounds in the next twenty years. In 1985, people of Britain were looking forward to retire at age 50 - 55. The present government has told its citizens that it must now work to the age of 65 - 70 before they can retire, as the country can no longer afford it, supporting the many immigrants that do not wish to work. It is now apparent that up to 500,000 Black and Asian refugees / misplaced persons are traveling North up the continent of Africa, hoping to settle in Western Europe. Their country of choice is said to be Great Britain. This is due to this country's low border security, and lax immigration rules, and highly generous welfare payments. Illegal immigrants are given homes, cars and are not required to work, at all. Once any alien is on British soil, the law obliges the British authorities to give these people money, homes, and in some instances cars; paying them to have driving lessons. Moreover, because of translation problems, red-tape, and no budget to handle the problem as crime increases almost daily, it will be tantamount that they do not come under British law and the police will have to turn a blind eye to catalogues of crime. Who will be concerned about over crowded Britain, when at least 75% of these people land on English shores, almost encouraged by the country's socialist government. It has been said that the British government will have to find or put aside around 200 billon pounds in the next 20 years to pay for this influx.
