Internet Speed Up GET BROADBAND BROADBAND HELP |

The futility of waste. Deserts are basically wastelands; most were once green and flourishing rainforests. All deserts grow a bit more each year. In theory, they may one day take over the whole planet, that is if other catastrophes do not beat them to it. Click on AFRICA to see a really good MAP Click HERE to see the OLDEST MAP of AFRICA. TheSahara.Net is a PROPOSAL to try and Terraform the Sahara Desert; to reclaim it for the benefit of the Planet. To produce a new Rainforest and Ocean. Desertification of the world spreads every day. This will attempt to redress the balance, by replacing lost natural habitats.

If anyone has any questions that
they want answering, as we do get quite a number over a period of any month,
please write to us at:
The piece below was written some time a go and may well be out of date, as most
people are on BroadBand now, in the UK, USA anyway. If you still are on dial-up,
do not try to speed-up your 56k - Get BroadBand, it will save your life.
********************************
Of course all the smart-arse Geeks out there will already know this but I only
discovered it, this week (End March 2002) after being on the Web for over six
years.
On your telephone line there is such a thing as GAIN. I sort of understand this
but if someone wants to explain not only gain but this whole idea, please write
in.
Anyway the normal GAIN is set at
3.
The maximum is apparently
6
and the higher the gain the better and faster your signal. All you have to do is
ring BT, (AND
OR CABLE POSSIBLY) and tell them you are having problems with your
connection.
" I have just got a new server and keep getting cut off. "
" I have just got a new computer "
" My ISP tells me that I need to have my gain put up as they have fixed
everything else."
" I have spent a fortune on the phone talking to the ISP engineer. At
50p 0r £1.00 per minute you can spend a tenner easy."
Hopefully
they will apologize and help you by changing your GAIN to a higher position. They
may only put it up to 4
. You
can either ring back a week later and complain saying that it has hardly changed
at all and have they actually done anything. They will hopefully put it up
to 5
or 6. OR Try
to get the full 6 on
the first try. Say:
" My mate went through all this and they put him up to the Maximum, why can't
I have it large? " At
British Telecom you can either ring 150 (FREE) and go through the
computers answering system and eventually find a human who will refer to
an engineer and sort it out for you and ask you to check back on another number. OR Ring
0800 - 679787 Tell
the engineer, or whoever answers, the same story about the problems you
have been having *********************************************** Does
it cost BT any more money for a higher gain??? If there
is BT engineer who wants to tell us what this is all about, please write. Why
are not ALL phone lines, especially those for Internet use only, on the maximum
gain???? NO SPAM PLEASE Please
let us know how you get on!!!
